Mosselbanken Jetty Terneuzen Zeeland Seaports commissioned the construction of a jetty for (off)loading of chemicals on the west side of the Braakman harbour at Terneuzen. This so-called "Mosselbanken jetty" is being developed in co-operation with DOW Benelux. At the same time a tank farm is erected at the Mosselbanken and underneath the Braakman Harbour a utility tunnel is constructed. This joint development under the name Value Park Terneuzen will be operated by Oiltanking.
Lievense was assigned to undertake a preliminary study for the optimum location of the jetty, taking into account the currents, waves, shipping traffic and manoeuvring in the Braakman Harbour and the stability of the sea dyke.
The project will be built in 4 phases. For phase 2 a longitudinal dike will be constructed to protect the berth area against the tidal cross currents in the adjacent Western Scheldt estuary. For the optimum size and location of this dike Lievense specified and supervised hydraulic studies. Lievense prepared the tender design for phase 1 and provided construction supervision and contract management services.
Activities:
- preliminary optimisation study for jetty location and stability of sea dike / coastal protection
- preliminary and tender design
- detailed design
- construction supervision and contract management
