Ceres Paragon Container Terminal The Amsterdam Port Authority and Ceres Terminals, an American terminal operator, have together invested in an ultramodern new container terminal. The Ceres Paragon Terminal has a quay length of 1050 metres and an annual capacity of 950,000 TEU.
It is the first container terminal in the world where vessels can both load and unload on both sides simultaneously, reducing loading and unloading times by up to 50 percent when compared to existing terminals.
This optimised transhipment time, combined with the terminal being up to three hours sailing closer to the shipping routes on the North Sea, results in major savings particularly for large container vessels. As well as it’s strategic location; this modern terminal has great connections to the hinterland for inland shipping, rail and trucking.
The entire project has a quay wall 1665 m long. Lievense Consulting Engineers was fully responsible for the design of the quay wall, ground anchoring, the rail track construction for the dockside cranes and all the other concrete constructions.
