Zona Portuaria Simon Bolivar, Venezuela

To stimulate economic growth and to reduce contamination of salinity into Lake Maracaibo, the government of Venezuela intends to construct a deep water port in ‘Zona Portuaria Simon Bolivar’, located at the Islands of Pajaros, Zapara and San Carlos. The ‘Zona Portuaria Simon Bolivar’ project includes terminals for handling of containers and general cargo and berthing of a cruise ship. The projected port also accommodates mooring facilities for the Navy of Venezuela.

Lievense Consulting Engineers assists the Client during the master plan phase about the location and lay-out of the deep water port. Further services include specification of functional requirements for hydraulic structures and mooring facilities, and preparation of surveys and soil investigations. In addition, Lievense Consulting Engineers makes the conceptual design, controls the quality of detailed designs of all hydraulic structures and provides contractual and technical specifications for a tender design/construct contract.
