Masterplan and business plan preparation for the re-development of the Port of Mayaguez

The Government of Puerto Rico has decided to privatize the various ports falling under the jurisdiction of the Puerto Rico ports Authority. As a result, the municipality of Mayaguez was entitled to tender the 60 year concession for the present port on the market. The Holland group, a joint venture comprising various local and international companies, requested the support of Lievense to prepare the tender as well as to further support the development of the port.

Lievense prepared a port masterplan for cruise and cargo facilities. In addition a conceptual design was prepared and assistance was given to the development of the business plan.

The Holland group was successful in the tender and subsequently Lievense has assisted the Client in the negotiations. The contract is expected to be signed early 2007 after which the implementation stage will start.
